MYSTERY STAMPING

What Is Mystery Stamping?

Each month I offer a Mystery Stamping Session on the 2nd Monday of each month.  Join me live online making a fun hand made card. I give you clues to make a card using supplies you have on hand and once the mystery is solved you receive the clues that you can save or print to make the card as often as you like.  It’s a fun FREE session to craft together making a card not knowing what the end result will look like!

How Does This Work?

Begins With Designing A Card

Each month I grab my supplies to design a card.  As I design the cards, I like to keep them simple and sometimes with a fun fold design.  If needed, I have examples ready to show that will help you during Mystery Stamping so that you can easily understand how to make the fun fold.

Writing The Clues

After I have created the card, I then write the step-by-step clues to make the card.  I like to keep the clues generic since you may not have the same supplies that I used to create my card.
The first clue will always contain the list of supplies that you will need to make the Mystery Card, cardstock and Designer Series Paper that you will need and what size to cut your papers to be ready for the live session.  It also lists what type of stamps, inks, tools, and other supplies you will need.  It is designed to use products that you have on hand, so the list will guide you in selecting them from your “crafty supplies at home” without having to purchase anything special.

Sharing The Clue

Each month I send out the first clue via email to everyone who has signed up to be on my mailing list.  This gives you plenty of time to get everything ready and cut your cardstock before the live session.  If you have not already signed up for my mailing list, be sure you do, so you can receive the clues and participate in the fun.

To give you an idea of what that first clue may look like here is an example:

CLUE #1

  1. Coloured Cardstock cut 1 @ 21 x 14.9cm, scored and folded at 5.25cm and 15.75cm
  2. Different coloured cardstock cut 2 @ 14.5 x 4.8cm and cut 1 @ 9 x 6.3cm
  3. DSP (Designer series paper) cut 2 @ 14.2 x 4.5cm and cut 1 @ 10 x 2.5cm
(Your card will be portrait so cut accordingly with the printed pattern)
  4. Basic White cardstock cut 1 @ 8.7 x 5.5cm and cut 1 @ 14.3 x 10cm
  5. 1 or 2 stamped images to fit onto 8.7 x 5.5cm
(Leave space for sentiment/greeting, you could stamp and colour or cut from DSP).
  6. Stamps for images and greeting
  7. Inkpads
  8. Colouring tools if needed for images
  9. Embellishments
  10. Paper trimmer with scoring blade
  11. Adhesive including dimensionals

Get Your Supplies Ready

Your email has arrived with the first clue.  Whilst your gathering your supplies on the list have a think about the type of card you want to make, will your theme be for a birthday card, thankyou card, Christmas card, Get Well card, etc. and choose your supplies accordingly, this way you’ll be ready for Clue #2 when we go live with our Mystery Stamping session.  Use the supplies you already have in your craft stash!  There is no right or wrong way to do Mystery Stamping.  Everyone uses their own stamps, paper, and inks so everyone’s cards are different.  Make sure to have your cardstock and Designer Series Paper (DSP) cut before we begin and remaining supplies/tools on hand.

Join Me Live

Details to join me live will be posted in the INKspirational Creations Mystery Stampers Facebook group for each monthly session.
Mystery Stampers stamp and create as I give them the clues on the screen. Make sure that you have your stamp desk or table set up and close to your computer or mobile device so you can see the clues and create at the same time.

What Happens During Mystery Stamping?

When we begin our live session, I share a typed clue on the screen for you to complete the first step of your card (Read aloud also).  I may also give additional information, tips and show examples to complete that step.
As I give the clues during the live session, I try to give plenty of time for everyone to complete the clue, letting me know when you are done with that clue and ready for me to reveal the next clue.  If you don’t understand or need a clue repeated, leave a comment in the chat and I will repeat it or try to help you without spoiling the mystery!
Keep in mind Mystery Stamping is all about fun and should be stress free.  If you get lost, not quite sure what to do, perhaps you fall behind, simply create a card with the pieces and supplies you have or join in the chat and when the Mystery card has been revealed you can then complete the card using the shared clues I give you.  Remember there is no right or wrong way to do Mystery Stamping.  I will always encourage you to discover your creativity with your own unique creations.!

What Happens After The Mystery Is Solved?

  • The mystery will be revealed by sharing my card, you get to view my card on the screen that I prepared and wrote the clues for.  It’s always fun to see if anyone’s card has been created similar to mine.
  • I will then share the clues for you to download, save and/or print in the Mystery Stampers Facebook group along with a photo of my card.
  • Once I have shared the clues and you have completed your card, even though everyone received the same clues, each card will be unique and different which makes it all the more fun!
Be inspired by all of the cards that other’s share!
You are invited to share your Mystery card in our INKspirational Mystery Stampers Facebook Group You will be surprised by how different each card will look.  Remember no two cards will look the same!  I encourage everyone to go and look at everyone else’s cards in the group, you received the same clues, however, using different supplies, each card is unique and just goes to show how creative everyone can be!
